color me impressed

According to one of the most reliable sources on color trends in fashion, the Pantone fashion color report for fall 2012, the bright colors we held onto so tightly in spring and summer are still trending and wearable for fall. How do we bring these fresh shades into the fall gracefully you ask? By pairing them with neutrals and darker tones. If you’re not big on black, a good option for this fall is pulling from the browns, or to go even lighter, take a note from the greys and taupes. We can’t hold onto the bright colors for forever, but we do have a pass for fall.

Some great ways to bring a color boost to your wardrobe without overpowering your whole look could be to embrace your accessories! One way to change up your style is to go bolder with your eyewear! Now, the idea of bold glasses can scare a lot of people but... here’s a little insight...

  • If you see a bold pair that you’re tempted to try... try them! You never know if they might be just what you always needed...
  • If you’re hesitant about having to wear a bold pair and doubting that they’ll go with your outfit all day everyday, a good option is to buy a pair of bold and colorful reading glasses. This way you can still spice things up but you don’t have to wear it absolutely everywhere at all times and coordinate your outfit according to your glasses.
  • Another popular trend in eyewear currently is to buy glasses that are a more neutral color like black, brown or grey on the outside and a bright color like pink, green, blue or yellow on the inside. When you pick a frame like this, from the front you mainly only see the neutral color and then from different angles, you can see little hints of color and this may be just the boost you need! A great example at LPE is the Prodesign by Denmark frames. There are many bright color choices balanced well with neutral tones and interesting shapes to flatter any face!

An example of a Prodesign frame which has the neutral grey on the front but gives us that pop of pink on the inside.

Here’s another Prodesign frame that once again has the neutral shade paired with a bright color giving us the perfect balance.

And as you can see, alain mikli frames are always a great choice when you decide to go bold with shape, color or pattern! Currently at LPE we are having a special on alain mikli frames so here's your chance! Until the end of October you can get any alain mikli frame for 30% off!

Here’s a little summary of the trending colors suggested by Pantone for fall:
trending colors this season for women: french roast, honey gold, pink flambe, tangerine tango, ultramarine green, bright chartreuse, olympian blue, titanium, rhapsody, rose smoke

trending colors this season for men: french roast, honey gold, olympian blue, bright chartreuse, tangerine tango, ultramarine green, rhubarb, sea fog, whitecap grey

“For nearly 20 years, Pantone, the global authority on color, has surveyed the designers of New York Fashion Week and beyond to bring you the season’s most important color trends.” - www.pantone.com

Don't leave your shades in the shade!

Once the wind in our windy city starts it’s decent into the fall and winter temperatures, we tend to retire our sunglasses, along with our shorts and tank tops to the back of the closet, until the next summer rolls around. This post is all about the untapped versatility of sunglasses. Sending our shades into seasonal exile is not the answer, and below are some stunning examples of celebs taking their shades into wardrobes for any forecast.

In our first examples, Jennifer Aniston wears the Tom Ford “Jennifer” (a frame that we currently have on our shelves) and pairs her sunglasses with a scarf and a jacket. Scarves are a great option for when the weather takes a turn and can help add warmth and style to an outfit. You can keep the same scarf and change from a lighter jacket to a heavy winter coat, or you can wear the same jacket all season but mix it up with a different scarf and make your wardrobe seem double the size.

Our next celeb and her whole family are often spotted wearing Tom Ford frames no matter the weather. Kim Kardashian wears the “Nico” Tom Ford sunglasses (a frame that we also have in stock) with a striped blazer. Blazers can help a wardrobe transition into the fall and winter season effortlessly. If you’re not quite ready to whip out the heavy duty winter coat, having a few blazers in some neutral colors can be an easy fix for when fall hits; they block the cold without the bulk.

Each of these celebs serve as a shining example and clearly demonstrate that they know how to make the most of their shades. Make sure to complete your wardrobe this fall and winter and don’t leave your shades in the shade! Remember, sunglasses are for every season!
